90% of Europeans not (yet) aware of EP elections 2009

In addition, one out of five doesn’t know at all about elections to the European Parliament. These are the findings of a new Eurobarometer survey.

The document, with a lot more interesting info, is definitely a must-read for all campaigners who prepare for next year’s European elections.

The full results of the survey are available in English and German.

You also have the possibility to consult country specific results:

The president of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pöttering, will tomorrow attend a conference on issues arising from the Eurobarometer survey on the European Parliament.

A comments on the headline of this story: One should not forget that the survey was actually conducted between September and November 2007 which is about 20 months before the elections.

My favorite result: The large majority of respondents (47%) think that the European Parliament “currently has the greatest decision-making power within the EU”. Would it only be true, I hear the MEPs saying.

Which parts of the survey do you find interesting? Let us know and comment below.
