EU funding transparency: a first milestone

The European Commission today published Regulation 259/2008 which requires EU member states to publish information on agriculture subsidies in April of every year. A milestone in EU transparency. But hopefully further ones will follow.

Is the Mediterranean Union all about Turkey?

I am not sure what the Mediterranean Union is exactly about (and not many seem yet to know a lot more than me) but Turkey still plays a major role in my opinion.

In addition, one out of five doesn’t know at all about elections to the European Parliament. These are the findings of a new Eurobarometer survey.
The document, with a lot more interesting info, is definitely a must-read for all campaigners who prepare for next year’s European elections.

160 million euros EU food aid - put in context

The European Commission announced today that it allocates 160 million € to alleviate hunger in the world’s poorest regions. I have tried to put the numbers in context and compared it with some EU member states’ financial contribution to fight hunger.
